What an amazing lady! I'm so lucky to have had her as my mother-in-law! Such kindness and joy she always spread to all around her, and so we all wanted to be around her often! With her wonderful partner Bernie, I was treated like family from the day I met them. I will so fondly remember all of our times together: the summertime sleepovers with the kids, the 4th of July parties, the pinochle games, the great food, the family gatherings for holidays, and most of all, her wonderful smile! I will miss her and think of her every day! I'm so glad she has left a bit of her spirit in Michaeleen to enjoy for the rest of our days. Rest in peace, Grandma Patty!

I have so many wonderful memories of Pat, “Herself” and the Harvey household. The simplicity of life around the farmstead was such fun! I remember how her voice bubbled with humor and happiness; she had a sense of joy for all that was ordinary. It was recognizable to me even then, as a young child. I also have fond memories of the most delicious pb and strawberry freezer jam sandwiches on old- school wonder bread, made by the dozen. Also rollerskating in the basement and hide n seek and tag after dark, and quite a number of kids riding in the VW bus- surely illegal by today’s standards, but everyone survived! And there was always music, and Bernie singing. What a wonderful time and place to know wonderful people! Good work Pat, and much appreciated. Kate (Alexander) Cotnoir

Dear Harveys,
I’m holding you all so close in my heart. It’s impossible to summarize how often I was on the receiving end of her love and generosity and how fully she made the farm feel like my home.
Among one of the dozens of authors your mom introduced me to, Thich Nhat Hanh remains a favorite.
“Walking slowly in the moonlight through the rows of tea plants, I noticed my mother was still with me. She was the moonlight caressing me as she had done so often, very tender, very sweet… wonderful! Each time my feet touched the earth I knew my mother was there with me. I knew this body was not mine alone but a living continuation of my mother and my father and my grandparents and great-grandparents. Of all my ancestors. These feet that I saw as ‘my’ feet were actually ‘our’ feet. Together my mother and I were leaving footprints in the damp soil.” Thich Nhat Hanh, No Death, No Fear
I will miss your mom so much. But I will see her in apple trees and roses, goldfinches and swallows, in berry pies and flannel sheets, in books that slow me down and tv shows that make me laugh. And most of all I will see her in all of you individually (and so collectively that I wouldn’t know how to parse) - your kindness and hospitality, your cleverness and stubbornness, your twinkles and giggles, your strength and fire and generosity. I will cherish all of the unexpected memories and associations that rise up and bring me into her presence.
So much love,
Julie

We miss our "Aunt Patty" with her lovely smile and charming chuckle. She was such a kind and quietly remarkable person. I hope the family is having a huge welcoming party for her in heaven.

Here awa and there awa,
Nearing the journey's end,
Life behind and Heaven before,
And each a friend,
Whether we share a last farewell,
When the sun has set,
Whether we silent go our way,
Oh dinna forget!
I miss you tons already, and surely I will never forget ye.
Love, Eric (the other Himself)
