Obituary of Michelle Marie Mehan

Michelle Marie Mehan passed away December 5, 2021, in Tacoma, Washington, her home of four years.  She was born April 16, 1973, to Edgar H. and Judith M. Mehan in Los Angeles, California.  She also lived in Lacey, Washington; Durham, North Carolina; and Seattle, Washington.

 

Michelle graduated from Tumwater High School, and earned a BA in Liberal Arts from The Evergreen State College.  She married Christopher Mayball in 1997 in Olympia.  Professionally, she was an assistant to the director of a library in North Carolina; supervisor of a medical lab at the University of Washington; and Program Director of the Frye Art Museum in Seattle.

 

Michelle had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed drawing, knitting, cooking, playing on the rugby team in college, and traveling, including her trip to Europe.  She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs.  She was a member of Girl Scouts, St. Patrick’s Church, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

 

She is survived by her mother, Judy Mehan of Lacey; brothers, Patrick of Lacey, Matt of Loveland, Colorado, and Marty of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sisters, Leigh, Lacey, and Heather. She was predeceased by her father, Ed Mehan; sister, Lori; and grandparents, Jim and Grace Johnson.

 

A funeral mass will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.  The funeral will be on Facebook at 10:30 a.m.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Thurston County Humane Society, Inc., 3403 Steamboat Island Rd. NW, Olympia, WA 98502; or Animal Services, 3120 Martin Way E, Olympia, WA 98506.
