Obituary of Harold Eugene Dudgeon

Harold Eugene Dudgeon passed away December 14, 2021, in Lacey, Washington.  He was born April 22, 1948, to Melvin O. and Beulah (Rice) Dudgeon in Bluffton, Ohio. 

 

Harold graduated from Ada High School in 1966, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970, completing two West Pac tours, including Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Professionally, He worked for Philip Display Components in Ottawa, Ohio, retiring in 2003 after 36 years of service.  He traveled the U.S. until 2013, when he moved to Lacey, Washington.

 

He married JoEllen Emans on March 20, 1971, and this year they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

 

Harold loved to tease friends and family.  He was known for his dry sense of humor, famous belly laugh, and regaling others with stories of his youth and military exploits.  He enjoyed joking with colleagues and making others smile. 

 

Harold was an antique gun enthusiast, and loved reading about the American West and Civil War. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, and traveling with his wife in their motor home.  Harold was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ohio; Leipsic (Ohio) Fishing and Hunting Association; Philips Quarter Century Club in Ottawa; DAV (Lifetime Member) in Tumwater, Washington; and Evergreen Sportsman Club.

 

He is survived by his wife, JoEllen (Emans) Dudgeon of Lacey, Washington; son, James T. (Timary) Dudgeon of Canal Winchester, Ohio; brothers, Larry Dudgeon of Bluffton, Ohio, Paul (Bonnie) Dudgeon of Ada, Ohio, and Michael Dudgeon of Ada, Ohio; and sisters, Margaret Bible of East Liberty, Ohio, Carol Howard of Lima, Ohio, and Barbara Barnett of Bluffton, Ohio.  He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Ernest Dudgeon.

 

Services will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to Disabled Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0310, or charity of choice.
