Obituary of Gwendolyn Kover

Gwen Kover, 76, passed away November 30, 2021, in Tacoma, Washington.  She was born September 27, 1945, to Raleigh and Maxine Kover in Joplin, Missouri.  Gwen lived most of her life in the Olympia/Lacey area of Washington.

She graduated from Olympia High School in 1963, and attended Centralia College.  She worked for the State of Washington, and retired after 30 years of service.  She devoted her life to raising three children as a single mother.

Gwen was generous, thoughtful, feisty, and loved to tease people.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, online bargain hunting, and decorating for Christmas all year long. She especially loved sewing gifts for her family and passing on her skills to her grandkids. She was a big Seahawks fan, and enjoyed camping and visiting the ocean.  She was a pioneer of gender equality, and had an innate sense of justice and loyalty.

She is survived by her sister, Cindy (Joe) Scott: son, Greg (Evelyn) Kover; daughters, Gini Kover and Gail (Paul) Kramer; grandsons, Gregg (Jessie) Santee, Levi Kramer, Jason Kramer, Michael (Ruth) Kover, Alex Kover, and Adam Kover; granddaughters, Daryl Kover, Jessie Stangland, Kyla (Randell) Stewart, Moriah (Jake) McCown, and Ashley Kover; and six great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Diana Nieves; and brother, Mitch Kover.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Nisqually Indian Tribe Youth and Community Center, 2310 Lashi St. SE, Olympia, WA 98513.
