I had the pleasure to care for both Bob and Shirley. He was an amazing husband and was such a great person. That smile and always asking me if I thought it was winter inside cause I always wore a jacket. Our morning routine and his love for noodle ball. Bob, I'm so glad you lived an amazing life. You are an inspiration. Bob and Greg, thank you so much for letting me care for your dad and you two are great guys and your dad was always bragging about you 2. Your dad and mom raised great kids.

After knowing him for 75 years - my favorite sailor uncle will be missed, but NEVER forgotten. The Wightman/Larkin bond is forever.

I met Bob Wightman when I was 5 years old (1945) and he was a fun 19 years old "uncle" in his WWII sailor uniform. He told me the day he had orders to go to Japan the United States dropped an "A" bomb and his orders changed quickly. He was transferred from San Diego to Widbey Island, Washington. Good news for our family and his - it allowed him to live near to our Larkin family which is related to the Wightman family by the marriage of my grandparents Laura Wightman and Thomas Larkin.
I have known and enjoyed Bob Wightman for over 75 years and have always been proud to be his relative. He was very thoughtful of others and worked at being a positive role model for family and friends and demonstrating a strong work ethic.
He was a good story teller as he shared experiences from living on a farm before automobiles became common, flying as a crew member in WWII military aircraft, and helping design Boeing airplanes. He was also a good listener with a sincere interest in hearing what others felt. Frequent email chats and occasional visits allowed us to stay in touch for many years - and always with a positive tone.
He will be missed but never forgotten. I hope he is once again with Shirley. Richard Larkin (and the Larkin family)
