Obituary of Roy Conover

Roy Conover peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on November 12, 2021. Roy spent 23 years as a professional forester.  He was part of the Earth Day generation that was going to save the environment.  He spent an additional 16 years as a high school science teacher.  He was an old-style teacher, setting high standards for behavior and academics.  Roy’s greatest accomplishments were being a loving husband to Karen and raising three sons, Wes, Riley and Byron. These sons each became kind and caring men.

While his sons were growing up, Roy coached numerous youth sports teams and worked with both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.  After his retirement, Roy was a member of a faith community and volunteered with Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail, Thurston County Food Bank, Community Youth Services, and was the “water guy” for Nickerson Homeless Community. He lived a full life, which ended much too soon.   Roy will be missed and remembered by many.

In lieu of flowers, Roy would ask that you share with those in our community who are struggling.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, 1:00 p.m. in The United Churches of Olympia, 110 Eleventh Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.

Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
