Obituary of Margaret Alice Fredson

Margaret Alice (Carlson) Fredson was born on July 23, 1931, to Alice (Hansen) and Clarence Carlson in Two Harbors, Minnesota. She had two sisters, Connie and Shirley, who loved her dearly. In high school, Peggy enjoyed selling popcorn at the movie theater. She also enjoyed dancing with Ronald Fredson, who had a special place in her heart. Peg graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1949 and Moorehead State Teacher’s College in 1951. She taught elementary school in Evelyth, Minnesota. In 1954, Peg and Ron were married and the next day Ron received his draft notice. Peggy spent 1 ½ of the two years with Ron in Germany.

 

Back stateside, Peggy and Ron moved to Texas and then California. They raised two children, Lynn and Steve, primarily in Santa Ana and Orange, California. 

 

Peggy worked as a volunteer gift store manager at Martin Luther Hospital, Anaheim for many years. In her free time, she made afghans, Norwegian hardanger embroidery, jewelry and more. She also enjoyed gathering with friends.

 

During retirement, Peggy and Ron moved to Arroyo Grande, California. She enjoyed her church community, singing in choirs, being with Ron and grandchildren. In her final years, Peg and Ron moved to Lacey, Washington, to be closer to family. Peggy will be remembered as a joyful, determined woman who faced life’s challenges with dignity and faith in God.

 

Peggy died on October 20, 2021, two days after her husband died. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and husband, Ron Fredson. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Ronald) Byrnes); her son, Steve (Leslie) Fredson); five grandchildren, Basil, Desiree, Sean, Alison and Jeanette.

 

A memorial service will be held for both Peggy and Ron on December 4, 2021, 2:00p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1601 North Street SE, Olympia, WA 98501.

 

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
