Robert Stolberg

Obituary of Robert Donald Stolberg

Robert Donald Stolberg was born on February 9, 1950, to Donald Stolberg and Jacqueline Stolberg, née Brow, in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle. Bob graduated from Blanchet High School in 1968. He attended the University of Washington where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated with a double major in economics and psychology in 1972.

He met his wife, Catherine Windberg, in 1982, and they were married on September 24, 1983 in Bellevue.

Their son, Christopher, was born in January 1989, and they moved to Olympia later that year. Bob worked at several banks and spent the last 18 years of his career as a loan officer at the Washington State Employees Credit Union. He retired in 2016.

Bob loved sports, especially golf, baseball, and football. He was an avid Husky football fan and held season tickets from 1972 until his death. He also loved gardening, camping, and reading.

In his later years, a variety of health problems made it difficult to do the things he once enjoyed. He was happiest when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He suffered a stroke on September 25. He was admitted to home hospice care on Thursday, October 7, and was tended by his wife, son, and daughter-in-law. He passed away the following day, October 8, 2021, peacefully in his sleep with his wife and son by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathy; son, Christopher (Kristine); grandchildren, John and Sofia; and brother, Peter (Charles).

Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
