Obituary of James Farler

James Farler died December 31, 2020, at the age of 82.  He was born in Denver, Colorado, the fifth of 13 children born to Fred and Loretta Farler.  He attended Garfield Elementary and graduated from Olympia High School in 1956.

 

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1960, and started a career in office machine repair in Las Vegas.  Returning to Olympia, he taught machine repair at SPSCC for eight years.  He established Reliable Office Equipment, closing the business in 2005. His favorite pastimes were golf and pool.  He belonged to the Olympia Eagles, American Vets, and Tumwater Valley Golf Club.

 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Harlene; daughter, Loretta Mabie; two granddaughters; three brothers, and five sisters.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and his beloved son, Jerry, who passed in early 2020.
