Obituary of Ralph William Niemeyer

Ralph William “Bill” Niemeyer, age 91, passed away June 23, 2020, in Lacey, Washington.  He was born December 13, 1928, to John and Sophia Niemeyer in Wilmar, Minnesota.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Sarah (Watson) Niemeyer; and his son, Richard “Ricky” Niemeyer.   He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Niemeyer) Filter, and her husband, Pastor Ed Filter; and three granddaughters, Amanda Filter, Sarah Filter and fiancé, Chris Wayne, and Emily Filter.

 

Bill worked for many years as an electrical engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company (now Boeing) in California.  After his retirement in 1984, he and his wife Mary moved to Olympia, Washington, where he continued to pursue many of his hobbies, such as painting, stained glass, and gardening. 

 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 7075 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.  Due to his service as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, Bill’s interment will take place on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.

 

Memorial contributions may be designated to Faith Lutheran Church at the above address.
