Marlene McComb

Obituary of Marlene McComb

Marlene Ann McComb, 84, passed away on June 5, 2020.

Born November 3, 1935 in Valley City, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Oscar L. and Florence M. Nelson.  She attended schools in Fargo, North Dakota, where her parents moved when she was young.  She met her future husband, Keith F. McComb, when he asked her to be his date for the Senior High School Prom. They were married  in August 1956.

After living briefly in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the young couple moved to Bellevue, Washington, in 1958 when Keith started working for The Boeing Co. While raising their three children, Marlene taught piano lessons and owned her own furniture upholstery business.  She also served as the church organist for St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue for more than 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Marlene eventually moved into her new home in Port Orchard, Washington, in 1992, a home she and Keith were building when he died unexpectedly that same year. She lived there until 2012, when she began shared living between her two daughters, one in Olympia and one in Bellevue.

Most recently, Marlene's residence was in the loving care of Brooks Blessing Adult Family Home.

Marlene is survived by her three children and nine grandchildren.  Memorial arrangements will be a family event later in the summer when Marlene will be interred next to her husband in Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, North Dakota.

The family suggests donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or charity of choice, in the name of Marlene McComb.
