Obituary of James Ray Zeller

James Ray Zeller (nicknamed “Superman”) passed away April 14, 2020, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 45.  He had a long battle with very complex medical conditions.  He was born March 19, 1975 to Vickie Lynn Allen.

James lived most of his life in Washington State with the exception of 2015 in Burns, Oregon.  He shared 19 years with Staret Shaffer, and had two beautiful children with her.

James was an amazing artist and loved drawing.  He loved racing remote control cars with his nephew, Zeydyn; playing guitar; being outdoors; barbecuing; and going to Long Beach.  He loved to play ball with the kids but he was uncoordinated and often tripped, hurting himself.  He loved texting Bob Rogers about football, fishing with his friend Dennis, and watching WWE wrestling.

James loved with his whole heart, and his children were his world. He also would give the shirt off his back if it would help someone; he didn’t have many possessions because he gave to those around him.  James was always humble, and will be remembered for often saying, “Dammit, Jim.”

James was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be very missed by all.

He is survived by sons, Jonathan Zeller (Jocelyn Sentino) and Thomas Hamilton; daughters, Elaine Zeller (Alex Davis) and Tammy Kleinleder; five grandchildren; mother, Vickie Allen; brother, James Daly; sisters, Randi Van De Walker (Joseph), Candy Rogers (Bob), Becky Daly, Ashley Zeller, and Malinda Holley; numerous nieces and nephews; grandmother, Doris Zeller; and aunt, Roxanna Wells.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, Thelma Pratt, Harold Allen, Eldon Zeller, James Brawley, and Joseph and Josie Oakes; and his uncle, Harold Wells.

In lieu of flowers, donations honoring James may be made to the American Heart Association.
