Obituary of Frank T. Bishop Jr.

Frank T. Bishop Jr., 69, passed away of cardiac arrest on April 10, 2020, in Olympia, Washington, his home of seven years.  Known as “Foogie” to his family, he was born October 31, 1950, to Frank T. Bishop Sr. and Priscilla Fay (West) Bishop in St. Louis, Missouri. 

 

Frank attended schools in Hoquiam, Washington, and in 1968, graduated high school in Sandoval, Illinois.  In 1994, he graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in health care management. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after a 24-year career.  The last job he had was as an ER tech at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.

 

A former bar owner in Jacksonville, North Carolina, he enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, and going to local casinos.

 

Frank made a huge contribution helping others get healthy.  Active in the Olympia AA 12-Step Program, he also conducted the 12-Step Program in several Washington State Prisons.

 

 “Foogie” had two families.  In his Missouri family, he is survived by siblings, Tim Turner of Collinsville, Illinois; Kim Turner, Kathy Turner, Ivan Turner and Walter Turner, all of Jefferson City, Missouri.  In his Washington family, he is survived by siblings, Robert McCue of Olympia; Esther McCue of Bainbridge Island; and Lorrie Eilers of Aberdeen. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank T. Bishop Sr. of Hoquiam, Washington; mother, Priscilla Fay (West) Turner of Jefferson City; and brother, Michael A. Bishop of Tillicum, Washington.

 

A celebration of life will be scheduled once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
