Obituary of Arlene Rosemary Root

Arlene Rosemary (Lautenschlager) Root passed away March 28, 2020, in Olympia, Washington, her home since 2014.  She was born March 9, 1926, to Edward Lautenschlager and Verna Keffer Lautenschlager in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Through the years, she also lived in California, Oregon, Oklahoma, and the Washington D.C. area.

 

Arlene was the 1944 valedictorian of Stone Creek-Jefferson High School in Stone Creek, Ohio.  She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker.  When her children were older, she went back to college and received a degree in psychology at California State University – Sacramento (CSUS). She then worked in various jobs for the State of California before retiring.

 

Arlene had a beautiful smile and bright personality.  She loved to enter sweepstakes and won many prizes for her family.

 

She is survived by daughters, Anita Pirkle and Kathy Goodin.  She was predeceased by husbands, Paul R. Goodin, James Root, and Joseph Moreau; her daughter, Joy Goodin; her parents; her brothers, Elmer, Loren, and Vaughn Lautenschlager; and sister, Sarah Little.
