Obituary of Shane Michael Gibson

Shane Michael Gibson passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2020.  He was born in St. Joseph, Trinidad, on February 25, 1996, to Reynold Gibson and Margaret Wylie (Gibson).

He is survived by his parents; siblings, Anna Gibson, Kendra Gibson, Jesse (Radha) Gibson, Paul Gibson, Thomas (Yunhua) Gibson, and Laura Gibson; grandmother, Helen Wylie; aunts and uncles, Harriet (Jeff) Millheisler, Becky Nash, Doug Wylie, Byron (Armina) Wylie, Jean Wylie (Barbara Baldwin); the love of his life, Jazmine Lopez; good friends, Josh Meza, Andrew Meza, Eric Marquina, Christian Cabrera; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Shane was preceded in death by grandfathers, Claude Gibson and Willis Wylie; grandmother, Anita Gibson; and uncles, Ritchie Gibson and Philip Nash.

Shane was such a kind-hearted young man with a gentle spirit and an infectious smile. He was loved immensely by his family and friends, and he returned that love.  He loved to help others and make people laugh.

A skilled carpenter and plumber with Pacific Bath in Tukwila, Washington, Shane loved his work and was proud of it.  He was a graduate of WF West High School in Chehalis, Washington, where he had been on the wrestling team for three of his four years there.  They even went to State.

Shane loved the great outdoors and absolutely enjoyed fishing, especially with his brother, Tommy.  He loved his Seahawks team, working out, and lifting weights.  He and Jazmine had many great adventures in their seven years together.  He also loved his devoted dog, Daisy.

Among Shane’s favorite places were beautiful Camp Bethel in Copalis Crossing, Washington and Seaside, Oregon, both locations for family reunions. He also enjoyed his two years in Texas with his brother Tommy.

Over the years growing up, Shane enjoyed all the family gatherings, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Easter egg hunts at Easter, and all the family trips and excursions.

The family wishes to acknowledge that, although our hearts are heavy with the all-too-soon passing of our beloved Shane and will miss him more than words can say, we do not mourn as others who have no hope, because our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died so that we might live forever.  As it says in God’s word in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18…

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these word.
