Obituary of Thomas William Barrett

Thomas William Barrett, age 73, left his body and moved into his next adventure on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Tom was born October 2, 1946.  In his final days, he was surrounded by his wife, three children, and grandchildren.  In his last hours, he made clear his love for his family. He lived and died in love.

This father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend is missed, but forever in our hearts. He was a man who loved telling stories and could quickly befriend any stranger. He was often described as “a real character.”

Tom was born to George and Helen Barrett in Santa Monica, California. He was the oldest of four. Tom played baseball throughout his childhood and into college. He served from 1964 to 1970 in the USAR, Specialist 4. Tom spent his career as a salesman, first in Southern California and in Everett, Washington, where he moved his family in1984 to be closer to his Boeing account as a Calgon salesman.

His children share fond memories of their childhood trips to the beach, fishing trips, softball tournaments and more. He was passionate about classic cars, fast pitch softball where he coached both of his daughters, and traveling the world with his wife. Tom proudly celebrated 30 years of sobriety in 2019 and cherished his involvement in the local AA community.

Loving husband of 22 years married to Karen Barrett, he was proud of his family. He loved to bring his family together, hosting barbecues and holiday dinners.

Tom survives on this earth through his best friend and wife, Karen Combs Barrett; children, Susan Burklund, Kristy Woodford, and Scott Barrett; sons-in-law, Matthew Burklund and Scott Provost; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Barrett; grandchildren, Ryan, Gracie, Lucca, Cora and Jakob; sister, Patricia; several nieces and nephews; and his pal and man’s best friend, Lenny.
