Obituary of Sonia Ann Ferguson

Sonia Ann Wirta Ferguson, 51, died of cancer on Dec. 14, 2019 in Chehalis, Wash.  She was born Oct. 9, 1968 to Rick and Linda Wirta in Centralia, Wash.  Sonia graduated from Chehalis’ W.F. West High School in 1987, and earned an AA degree from Centralia College.  She worked for the Washington State Department of Health and Lewis County Health Department.

Sonia was strong willed, a fighter, witty, dedicated, caring and loving.  She lived her life for her daughter.  She also loved spending time with family and friends, listening to the great stories from her nephew, Evan Moon, reading, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

Sonia is survived by her daughter, Evie Ferguson; her parents; her sister, Cathy Mowlds, and husband, Rick Mowlds, and their children, Kyle Mowlds and Courtney Mowlds; and sister, Amy Moon, and husband, Dean Moon, and their children, Emma Moon and Evan Moon.  She was predeceased by grandparents, Marie Watson, and Norm and Jean Wirta.

A mass will be held Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 157 SW 6^th Street, Chehalis, WA 98532.  Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Mason Cancer Institute, 1100 9^th Ave., Seattle, WA 98101, or charity of your choice.
