Obituary of George E. Nelson
George E. Nelson, 84, passed away December 2, 2019 in Tenino, Washington, his home of more than 40 years. George was born October 7, 1935 to Christopher and Mary Catherine (Corkery) Nelson in Tacoma, Washington. Over the years, he also lived in Eatonville and Lacey, Washington.
George graduated from Eatonville High School in 1955. He married Frances May Stanton on July 12, 1958 in Olympia, and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. Professionally, he was a carpenter, and member of Carpenter Union Local 1148.
George loved to help others, especially those in need. His interests also included having coffee with his friends, picking wild berries, and hunting. He was a member of the Tenino Lions Club and enjoyed their activities.
He is survived by his sons, Mark E. Nelson (Linda), Kenneth A. Nelson (Janet), and James F. Nelson; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Josephine Paulson and Margaret Craughan; and longtime companion, Linda Howerton. He was predeceased by his parents, and wife, Frances May (Stanton) Nelson.
A Rosary will be held Friday, December 13, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 149 Keithahn St. S., Tenino, WA 98589. A Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place later at Forest Grove Cemetery, 18011 Northcraft Road SE, Tenino, WA 98589. There will be a reception back at the Church after the Interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tenino Lions Club, 217 Park Ave. W, Tenino, WA 98589.
