Michael Carpenter

Obituary of Michael Oren Carpenter

Michael Oren Carpenter passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019.  Born December 31, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, he grew up in Seattle, lived in Ellensburg a couple of years, then moved to Lacey, Washington. He worked for state and local government for 23 years, the last six years in Thurston County.

Michael is survived by two sons and their families, Nicolas, Elizabeth, Caleb, and Addy, and Christopher, Jennifer, Colton, Caedan, and Chase; and by his mother, Flo; sisters, Kathy, Robin, and Nola; and brother, Rowdy.  He also left behind nieces and nephews, an aunt and uncle, lots of cousins, and many people who loved him.

Michael shared his passion for fishing with all, and was generous with his catch of the day. He loved jazz, the M's, the Dawgs, and the Hawks, and he loved cooking, especially baking, and often came bearing a pie to those he loved.  He also could be found in the kitchen teaching a nephew how to make "Michael's Famous Applesauce Cake."  He was especially devoted to his family, and his grandchildren were his delight, his heart.
