Obituary of Marjorie R. Eckroth

Marjorie R. Eckroth passed away at her home on September 20, 2019 in Lacey, Washington. She was born August 16, 1944 to Albert and Rose Papacek in Tacoma, Washington.  Margie attended Visitation Grade School and graduated from St. Leo’s High School (Tacoma) in 1962.

She married Alan Eckroth on July 17, 1965 at Visitation Catholic Church in Tacoma, in a double wedding with her identical twin, Mary, who wed Marvin Kopp.

Margie worked for the State of Washington in Olympia for 25 years, including at the Department of Retirement Systems, DSHS, and Labor and Industries.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Lacey and its St. Bridgett’s Guild.

Margie always focused on God first and loved activities with her daughter and grandchildren whenever she could.  She was a magnet for and loved all children.  Margie was involved in great community causes, including the Homeless Backpacks program in Olympia, and fundraising events at Saint Martin’s University.  She also was extremely artistic, and loved many arts and crafts, particularly knitting for babies and children.

Margie was a beautiful person inside and out.  She will be forever known for her kindness, sweetness and enduring smile that melted anyone who met her.  She always had a twinkle in her eyes and love in her warm heart.

This gentle soul is finally at peace.  The world lost a great person, but God now has a new angel.  She is lovingly missed by her husband, Alan Eckroth of Lacey; daughter, Amy (Jim) Bradley of Olympia; grandchildren, Lucas Bradley of Longmont, Colorado and Paige Bradley of Fort Collins, Colorado; brothers, Ron (Georgia) Papacek of Tacoma, and Bob (Kieren) Papacek of Shelton; and sisters, Carol (Phil) Ringrose of Tacoma, Patti (Rick) Osborne of Tacoma, Kathy (Martin) Bradley of Everett., Mary (Marv) Kopp of Lacey; and 37 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Rose Papacek; father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Barbara Eckroth; brother-in-law, Phil Eckroth; sons, Mark Eckroth and Ronald Eckroth; and granddaughter, Jayme Lynn Bradley; and niece, Laurie Rogers.
