Obituary of Philip "Jerry" Lane
Philip “Jerry” Lane, 74, passed away September 8, 2019. He made Olympia, Washington his home for 15 years. He was born January 30, 1945 to William and Lily Lane in San Francisco, California.
Jerry grew up in Concord, California, where he graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1962. He attended Diablo Valley Community College in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 15, 1964 and was a medic from 1965 to 1967. He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967 and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1970.
Jerry continued his career in medicine. He received his Certificate in Practical Nursing from Grays Harbor Community College in 1977, and an Associate in Nursing degree from the University of New York Regents in 1978. He dedicated 32 years to nursing at Willapa Harbor Hospital, Grays Harbor Community Hospital, and Providence St. Peter Hospital.
Jerry married his beloved Mary Hassell on December 1978 in Tokeland, Washington.
Jerry treated everyone like a friend, and also had a special place in his heart for his four-legged friend, Todo. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived his wife, Mary Lane; seven sons, Joshua and Michael who reside in California, Allyn, Wesley, Philip, Eric, and Neil who all reside in Washington; two daughters, Carmela who lives in Boston and Elisabeth who lives in Washington; eight grandchildren; and brother, Bruce Lane who resides in Sonoma, California. He was predeceased by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Olympic Flight Museum, 7637-A Old Highway 99 SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
