Katie Hatcher

Obituary of Katie Doris Hatcher

Our beloved Katie Doris Hatcher was born in Houston, Texas on November 30, 1933 to her parents, Booker T. Hatcher and Ozella Kimbele Hatcher.

She was blessed with her first born, Addie Yvonne Gardner, in 1949.  She married James Edward Hall and, out of that union, four children were born, Brenda Hall, James Thomas Hall, Rhonda Ray and Flora Hall.

Katie was one of the first African Americans admitted into the University of Texas Nursing Program. She graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, with a nursing diploma.  She worked as a Registered Nurse until she retired.  Throughout her nursing career, her patients and medical professional colleagues recognized the compassion and care she gave to people.

Katie enjoyed spending time with her children, family and friends; reading books; decorating her home; gardening; traveling; and was especially fond of the Christmas holiday season.  She also loved attending classes at Ramtha's School of Enlightenment and sharing her spiritual wisdom with others.

Katie's transition to heaven was preceded by her parents, Booker T. Hatcher and Ozella Kimble; her siblings, Booker Gene Hatcher, Bettye Hatcher and Sophronia Hatcher; her daughter, Addie Yvonne Gardner; and her "sister-cousin," Rose Berry.  She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Brenda J. Hall, James T. Hall, Rhonda Ray and Flora Hall; her grandson, James Ray; nephews, Danny Phillips, Curmit Hatcher, Francis Hatcher, and Eric Hatcher; nieces, Sophia Phillips, Carolyn Renee Hatcher, Iletha Hatcher, Rochelle Hatcher; and a host of family members and friends.
