Phillip Rearden

Obituary of Phillip Jay Rearden

Phillip J. Rearden, 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died on May 8, 2019, peacefully in his home on Chuckawa Lane. Phil was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Frank and Opal Rearden on June 20, 1946.

He married Christie on July 20, 1970, and Phil would tell you that this was the best thing that ever happened to him.

He had a 40-year-long career as a lineman with Moza, Wilson, Potelco and Hawkeye before he retired in 2007. Phil was also known for his love of hot rods and a favorite activity was going to the drag races and spending time in his garage, where he worked on rebuilding multiple model classics throughout his life. But the most important thing to Phil was his family and friends.

Phil is survived by his wife of 49 years, Christie J. Rearden; siblings, John, Frank, Kathy and Ginger; daughters, Jessica (Paul) Oneil, Janelle Rearden, Tullee (Chris) Ivy; son, Joshua Rearden; grandchildren, Justin, Kirsten, Devin, Shayna, Katelynn, Lucy, Baron and London; and his great-grandson, Christian.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Opal Rearden; sisters, Nadene and Cornilia; granddaughter, Kayla Rearden; niece, Cindy Rearden; nephew, Eric Borden; niece-in-law, Teri Borden; nephew-in-law, Sam Palmisal; and great-nephew, Zachery Holt.

Phil Rearden was a force to be reckoned with and those who really knew Phil knew him as “Filthy Phil” with great affection. The life he lived reached far beyond the walls of his home. He was loved as much as he loved, and we know he will be remembered and missed by many.

A service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Lawrence Lodge, 15735 Topaz Drive SE, Yelm, WA 98597.
