Obituary of Aileen Alice Porter

Aileen Alice (Kerle) Porter passed away May 6, 2019 in Tumwater, Washington.  She was born July 30, 1926, in Cheyenne, North Dakota, one of seven children of Rudolph and Bernice Lies.  She also lived in Salome, Arizona.

Aileen, affectionately known as “Blondie,” was one of the spunkiest, fun-loving, hard-working philanthropists around.  She was a great conversationalist and loved to laugh, dance, and meet new people.  Professionally, she was a Washington State Nursing Home Program auditor (DSHS). She belonged to St. Michael Parish, Stars, and the Red Hat Society.

Aileen was a devoted Catholic and loved attending mass.  Among her interests were quilting, stamps, politics, collecting elephants, spending time with family, and entertaining guests.  She was an avid lover and connoisseur of good pie.  She had a wealth of knowledge of every place that served great pie along the I-5 corridor from the Pacific Northwest to California. She loved traveling and was always up for a good adventure.

Aileen is survived by her sons, Richard (Sherry) Kerle and Robert (Randy) Kerle; daughters, Marylin Garcia, Kathleen (James) McKee, Julie Kerle, and Michelle Kerle; and younger brother, Rudy (Loralee) Lies.  She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Maurice and Leroy; sisters, Evelyn, Leona, and Vivian; and husbands, Walter Kerle and Eugene Porter.

Aileen will be greatly missed.  Her final request was that you pray for her.
