Obituary of Crystal Laurine Mitchell

Crystal Laurine Mitchell peacefully departed this life March 31, 2019 in Lacey, Washington.  She was born April 22, 1941 to Harry Warden Webster and Florence Katherine (Mosley) Webster in Long Beach, California. As the daughter of an army chaplain, Crystal grew up living around the country and the world, including California, Texas, Washington, Arkansas, Germany, Japan, and Vietnam. She developed a lifelong love of exploring and learning about other cultures and places.

 

Crystal earned a BA degree in Christian Education from Nyack College. She married Frederick P. Mitchell on August 14, 1971 at Cathedral of the Crossroads in Castro Valley, California. She was a secretary for military installations in Saigon, Vietnam, and Oakland, California, and for the church she belonged to, East Hills Alliance Church, in Kelso, Washington.

 

Crystal loved taking care of and spending time with her family. She had a quiet spirit and was kind and generous to all. She loved Jesus, animals, serving others, Christmas, chicken teriyaki, and walking the beach.

 

Crystal is survived by her husband, Fred; her three children, Kathleen, Nara, and Robert; four grandchildren, Aurora, Elizabeth, Robert D., and Mikayla; and her older brother, Harry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older and younger sisters, Gwendo and Geneva.

 

A graveside service for family will be held Monday, June 24, 2019, 11:15 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. A memorial service for church family will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at East Hills Alliance Church, 1405 Burcham St., Kelso, WA 98626.

 

In remembrance of Crystal, donations may be made to CAMA Services (Compassion and Mercy Associates), Child Evangelism Fellowship, or the charity of your choice.
