Darlene Dafoe

Obituary of Darlene Anita Dafoe

Darlene Anita Dafoe, longtime resident of Tenino, Washington, passed away on April 18, 2019 surrounded by her family.

The second of three children, Darlene was born on January 20, 1944 to Don and Bernadine Dafoe of Priest River, Idaho. The family lived throughout Idaho, Colorado, and Washington in her childhood, eventually settling in the Rochester area.

She graduated second in her class from Rochester High School in 1962, where she met and married Terry Davis. They would soon after have two daughters, Lori and Carol. Darlene was a stay-at-home mom for many years, but after a time, she would begin working as a legal secretary. At 38 years of age, Darlene decided to go to college and earned a Bachelor of Science from The Evergreen State College in 1985. Shortly afterwards, she obtained her Master’s degree in Psychology from Saint Martin's University. Darlene would go on to dedicate more than 20 years working at Lewis County Mental Health.

Darlene was bright and creative, always trying out different hobbies and interests. She loved to decorate her house and her garden, forever rearranging and perfecting both. Throughout the years she dabbled in writing, photography, sewing, doll collecting, and antiquing. All through her life, she was an avid reader, especially appreciating classic and historical books, stories, and movies. She enjoyed travelling the Pacific Northwest and loved the Oregon and Washington coastline most of all. She was a fun-loving woman, goofy at times, who never lost her sense of humor, even in her years-long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Above all, Darlene loved her family, brothers, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. She is survived by her brother, Dave Dafoe, and sister-in-law, Ginger; daughter, Lori Lencioni, and son-in-law, Robert Lencioni; daughter, Carol Crum; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
