Obituary of Ernest Muzatko

Ernest “Babe” Muzatko went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2019 at the age of 94 in Lacey, Washington.  He went peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  He was married to his “precious” wife, Elsie Wiedekamp, for 68 years.

Ernest was one of ten children who grew up in Spokane, Washington.  He played baseball and was the son of a brewmaster from Chezchloslovakia.  His father ran Bohemian Brewery in Spokane.

Before returning to Lacey, where he was born, he lived in Texas and California where he sold life insurance.  Once he returned to Washington, he became a stockbroker.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator.  A soldier couldn’t pass him by without receiving a “Thank you for your service” and a handshake.  He graduated from WSC in pre-law and was a devoted Cougar fan.

The most important things to him were his family and serving God by helping others.  He will always be remembered for his unconditional love, and his generous and self-sacrificing nature.  He often said, “I am blessed,” and he always had a joyful spirit.

He loved fishing, walking in the woods with his dog, prison ministry, and singing (even if he didn’t know the words).

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; daughters, Mindy, Jill and Robyn; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on April 27, 2019, 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 114 20th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church for the Kairos Prison Ministry.
