Obituary of Elizabeth Claire Sogge

Elizabeth Claire “Libby” Sogge passed away March 27, 2019 in Olympia, Washington.  She was born April 2, 1951 to Richard Carl Ernest Dibble and Maxine Louise Pelger Dibble in Houston, Texas.  Over the years, she also lived in Olympia, Washington (2004-2019), Whitethorn, California (2002-2004), Eugene, Oregon (1985-2002), Pleasant Hill, Oregon (1980-1985), Gardena, California, and Ohio.

 

Libby graduated from Gardena High School in 1969, and married Mark Melvin Sogge on August 14, 1971 in Boulder, Colorado. She attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California (1971-1973), and graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.

 

Libby was a school teacher in Pleasant Hill, Oregon.  More recently, she worked as a caregiver for multiple individuals and companies in Oregon and Washington.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, cooking, gardening, doing arts and crafts, reading, the ocean, supporting local businesses, and bringing joy to others.  She dearly loved her cat, Zaki. She cared deeply about helping people and animals. She was a member of the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Church.

 

Libby is survived by her son, Jeffrey Sogge; daughter, Kristin Sogge; her four grandchildren, Noelani, Shiloh, Eliana, and Cielle; and brothers, Clifford Dibble and Richard Dibble.  She was predeceased by her parents.

 

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Olympia Unitarian Universalist Church, 2315 Division St. NW, Olympia, WA 98502.
