Delvin Hinzpeter

Obituary of Delvin G. Hinzpeter

Delvin G. Hinzpeter died on April 9, 2019 in Olympia, Washington.  Del was born in Tillamook, Oregon, to Twila A. and Ronald Hinzpeter.

Del attended Tumwater High School with the Class of 1965. He was a veteran of Vietnam (1966-1967), having served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Cavalry in Ankhe, Vietnam.

Del was an original member of Lewis County Bass Club. He enjoyed bass fishing at his favorite lakes.  The Cowlitz and Green River off the Toutle River were two of his favorite spots for fish that were running.  The Skokomish River was his “go to” river.

The ocean was a great place that brought Del great joy.  He and his wife, Susan, would sit on the jetty at Ocean Shores (getting wet at times) just to hear the waves, smell the salt air, and think about nothing.

The also enjoyed gambling for fun.  Susan usually did better than Del, but he would say that “his day was coming” and it did several times.

At all the birthday parties and family get-togethers, Del enjoyed seeing family, laughing, and getting caught up on what was happening.

He loved and spoiled their little 19-year-old dog, BooBoo.  BooBoo had Del all figured out and worked it to her advantage.  Del enjoyed her so very much.

Del was a journeyman sheet metal worker with Local 66. He retired in 2010, after 30 years in the trade.  He then had more time to enjoy the outdoors, and bass fishing.

Del is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan (Lovell) Hinzpeter; children from a  previous marriage, Tami Spitler (Jeff) of Lacey, Washington, and Russ Hinzpeter (Melissa) of Grapeview, Washington; daughters, Terri (Evan) Thompson of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Jill Wilkowski (Ryan) of Pasco, Washington, and Kathy Hinzpeter (Jim) of Lacey, Washington; brothers, Ron Hinzpeter (Karen) of Ethel, Washington, and Delane Hinzpeter (Dianna) of Edgewood, Washington; sister-in-law, Lenore Miller (Steve) of Lake Forest Park, Washington; brother-in-law, Craig Lovell of Surprise, Arizona; grandchildren, Danika Weitz, Bayleigh Dupre, MacKenzie Cook, Zoe Hinzpeter, Carey Nelson, Brandon Wilson, Asya Wilson; and great grandchildren, Olivia Weitz and Lexie Weitz.
