Obituary of John H. Vincent

John H. Vincent passed away March 22, 2019 in Lacey, Washington.  He was born January 24, 1930 to Ray Alexander Vincent and Ruth Moore Vincent in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He recently lived in Rainier, Washington, for 15 years.

 

John graduated from Grove City High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy (1948-1952) aboard the aircraft carrier Antietam from October 1951 to March 1952, and was a member of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Air Force Fighter Squadron 837 in Korea.

 

John married Alice May Powell on October 12, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. After her death, he married Olive (Becker-Hull) Read on November 26, 1977 at the Assembly of God Church in Renton, Washington.

 

Professionally, John worked at Boeing as an Aerospace Engineer Tech Aid for over 30 years.  He retired in 1990.

 

John was a woodworker, enjoyed Volkssporting (walked all 50 states in the 1980s and 1990s), and raised ornamental pheasants, quail and other birds.  His memberships included Feather Fanciers, VFW (lifetime member), the Rainier American Legion post, and the Assembly of God Church.

 

John is survived by his wife, Olive L. Vincent of Rainier; son, John Herbert Vincent Jr. of Rochester, Washington; daughters, Cheryl Ann (Dean) Kimball of Renton, Washington, and Nancy Lee Vincent of Olympia, Washington; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Frances Rae (1925-1989).
