Obituary of June Sallgren

June Sallgren, 78, passed away March 7, 2019 in Olympia, Washington, her home of 30 years.  She was born to Joseph and Helen Lucy (Higgins) Sallgren in Miles City, Montana.  Over the years, she also lived in Hoquiam, Washington (1972-1989); Roundup, Montana (1970-1972); Cherry Valley, Massachusetts; Klamath Falls, Oregon; Orange County, California; and Billings, Montana.

June attended elementary and high school in Miles City and Sunburst, Montana; Grays Harbor College in Washington; and then graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from St. Martin's College in Olympia.  She was married to Francis Connors from 1959 to 1989.

Professionally, June started as a teacher’s aide, then taught English as a Second Language in the Aberdeen School District, and later became an educator and counselor for Fort Lewis Army Base and McChord AFB until she retired.

June had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh.  She loved making friends and spending time with them.  She also loved her family; her grandsons were the light of her life.

June loved gardening, reading, and travelling.  She was talented at many arts and crafts and home decorating. She could make anything and make it wonderful.  She was a fabulous cook.  She also loved identifying and feeding the birds at her house, her pets, and walking on the beach with her dogs.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Olympia and loved St. Martin's Abbey.

June is survived by her son, Kevin Connors (Isabel) of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughters, Teresa Connors of Battle Ground, Washington, Brenda Connors of Olympia, and Sandra Baker (Jerry) of Battle Ground; grandsons, Sean and Kealan Connors, Russell Connors, and Gavin Baker; and sister, Edna Pangburn of Billings, Montana.  She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

A mass will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1055 Boundary St. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, 1 pm at Masonic Memorial Park, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 pm at Olympia First Baptist Church, 904 Washington St., Olympia, WA 98501.
