Charissa Tressler

Obituary of Charissa Anne Tressler

Charissa Anne Tressler passed away February 12, 2019 in Olympia, Washington. She was born March 16, 1976 to Richard A. Tompkins Jr. and Susan M. Fardell in Longview, Washington. She married Christopher M. Tressler on February 24, 1996 and they moved to Fallbrook, California (1996-1998), before taking up residence in Olympia for 20 years.

Charissa graduated from Kelso (Wash.) High School in 1994, and earned a dental assistant degree from Concorde Career College in 1998, and an AA degree as a Registered Nurse from South Puget Sound Community College in 2010. She worked as a dental assistant (1998-2008), and an RN at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington (2010-2012) and St. Peter Hospital in Olympia (2012-2019).  She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Longview.

Charissa had a big smile.  She was warm, compassionate, and willing to give all of herself to others.  She loved taking people under her wing and helping them.  No one was ever unwelcome in her presence.

Family was important to Charissa; she loved being a mom to Megan and Caiden. She also loved being a nurse, and went above and beyond to provide personal care for each patient. In addition, she loved to travel to warm locations, as well as boating, snorkeling, and skiing.  Charissa loved deserts. If there was a choice of what type of pie or cake, she would say, “I’ll take a small slice of each!”

Chrissa is survived by her husband, Christopher Tressler, daughter, Megan (age 16), and son, Caiden (age 13), all of Olympia; her father, Richard Tompkins Jr. of Hamilton, Montana; mom and dad, Susan and Tony Fardell of Longview; sister, Christy Duncan of Auburn, Washington; and brothers, Chris Fardell of Phoenix, Arizona, Alex Fardell of Entiat, and John Fardell of Entiat. She was predeceased by grandparents, Doug and Carol Jones, and Richard Thompkins Sr.

Services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 2000 E. Kessler Blvd., Longview, WA 98632.  Memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders at https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/onetime.cfm.
