Obituary of Bert Bogue

Bert Bogue passed in his home on Monday, February 4, 2019, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his treasured wife, Melinda Bogue; his two beloved sons, Jesse and Alex Bogue; and many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and in-laws whose lives are better for having Bert in them.  Bert fought a long battle with asbestosis from working the trade he loved in which he made many many more friends.

Bert’s love of his family and friends is matched only by his sense of humor. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for people he considered family, whether they were blood or not. His heart was full of love and laughter, and he loved telling the corniest jokes possible but could get a laugh no matter what joke he told because he was the one telling it. His hugs made everyone feel safe and loved, and his laughter could lighten the mood in any room and make all present smile. He delighted in devising culinary masterpieces and sharing them with anyone he could get to taste it, sometimes not always to the liking of the taster but that was even more fun for him.

Bert was many things. He was a scrimshaw artist, a wood worker, and a leather worker. He had amazing talent in everything he did. Nothing was more evident in everything he did than how much his family meant to him. Every word, every breath, every thought was for those he loved and those who loved him. He will be missed by so many.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 3, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at the Delphi Schoolhouse, 7601 Delphi Road SW, Olympia, WA 98512.
