Obituary of Evelyn Lucille Lewis Failor

Evelyn Lucille Lewis Failor, 92, passed away December 21, 2018 in Lacey, Washington, at Panorama, her home the past eight years.  She was born June 13, 1926 to Lonnie Lewis and Ona Hannah Lewis in Gillette, Wyoming. She lived in West Texas until age 19, and then spent over 50 years at South Bay.

 

Evelyn graduated from Spur High School in 1942 and attended Texas State College for Women from 1942 to 1944.  She married Richard O. Failor on August 8, 1945 in Denton, Texas.

 

Evelyn had a quick and hearty laugh, boundless energy, and a generous spirit!  She was a loyal friend and always the welcoming host.  She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. 

 

A dental assistant and orthodontic assistant, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, reading, hiking, bird watching, and salmon fishing in her younger years.  She was a member of Tuesday Trotters Hiking Club, Crystal Mountain Ski Club, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, and First United Methodist Church of Olympia.

 

She is survived by sons, Richard Alan Failor of Woodinville, Washington and James Lewis Failor of Santa Rosa, California; daughters, Nancy Lynn Vancil of Lacey and Elizabeth Jane Failor-Howe of Olympia, Washington; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents, Lonnie and Ona Lewis; twin sister, Melba Louise Lacey (1976); and husband, Richard O. Failor (2009).

 

Services will be held January 26, 2019.  Please check back for details. Memorial donations may be made to the YMCA or Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.
