Obituary of Edmund Rauser

Edmund “Ed” Rauser died unexpectedly on Littlerock Road December 17, 2018 in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 81.

 

Ed was born on March 6, 1937 in a small German village in Bessarabia, in part of today’s Russia, to Erhard and Emma (Rueb) Rauser. Ed immigrated to the United States in 1952.  He later graduated from technical college in 1962 with a degree in carpentry and soon married his true love, Deanna Pearson in 1970.

 

After moving to Olympia, Ed worked the majority of the time for A.B. Cuda Construction as a union master carpenter. He worked on many structures in the Olympia area, including the Capitol, and was also very instrumental in building Gull Harbor Lutheran Church in Olympia. 

 

Ed was strong in his faith and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 33 years.  He was a member of the South Puget Sound Carpenters Local #129 for 51 years and also a member of Washington Farm Forestry Association. He had numerous hobbies and loved soccer.

 

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Deanna; children, Kristin, Eddy and Karin; siblings, Berta, Gerhard, Lilly, Hilda and Irma Katrina; and grandchildren, Katy, Kyleena, Rylan, Blake and Karisa.

 

A viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, 1:00-5:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, 12:00 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2020 Franklin St. SE, Olympia, with a reception to immediately follow.
