Obituary of Orville Lapp

Orville Lapp passed away December 5, 2018 in Olympia, Washington.  He was born April 20, 1932 to Jesse and Louise Lapp in Mesa, Colorado, and the family moved to Washington two years later. Orville lived in Sumas (1934-1961), Olympia (1961-1992, 2016-2018), Grapeview (1992-2002), and Centralia (2002-2016).

 

A graduate of Sumas’ Nooksack Valley High School, he married Shirley Worthen on December 24, 1950 in Everson, Washington. Professionally, he worked for Lakeside Industries, from which he retired (1979-1992), Olympia Oil and Wood (1961-1978), and Lind Gravel (1950-1961).  He was a member of Operating Engineers Union #612.

 

Orville loved children, Arabian horses, small dogs, and koi fish ponds. He enjoyed collecting and repairing antique clocks, and fishing. His favorite food was fried chicken. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lapp of Lacey, Washington; sons, Dan Lapp of Olympia, Philip Lapp of Rochester, Washington, and Scott Lapp of Colorado; daughters, Sheryl Lapp of Hawaii, Jennifer Diloreto of Tacoma, Washington, Jaimee Lapp of Lacey, and Beatrice Ogden of Yakima, Washington; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sister, Madeline Lapp of Everson, Washington.  He was predeceased by his sons, Richard Lapp and David Lapp; parents; and brothers, Don Lapp and Ken Lapp.

 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Revel Lacey, 211 Hoh St. SE, Lacey, WA 98516.  Memorial donations in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/.
