Obituary of Patricia Nikula

Patricia “Pat” Nikula of Tenino, Washington, age 85, died November 11, 2018 at Roo Lan Health Care in Lacey, Washington. She was born August 24, 1933 in Hoquiam, Washington to Charles “Les” and Ethel “Bernice” (O’Hara) Vaughan. Pat graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1951 and earned a degree in Journalism later in life.

She had a love of the written word and worked for several newspapers in Grays Harbor and Thurston Counties and the Grange News. Her favorite stories to write were Features, believing that everyone had an interesting story to tell.

Pat was a member of the Red Nose Brigade and brought joy to those both young and old with her clowning. She belonged to several book clubs and volunteered at various civic organizations. She relished spending time at the beach and enjoyed going to garage sales, looking for treasures.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Arthur; children, Daniel Armel and Lynda Armel Loretic; step-daughters, Sandra Nikula and Laura Nikula; as well as her five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and first husband, Steward Armel.

A celebration of her life will take place after the new year. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Roo Lan Health Care for their attentiveness and loving care.
