Obituary of Dave Raymond Evans

Dave Raymond Evans passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at his home in Tenino, Washington, on November 30, 2018. Dave was born in Seattle, Washington, on December 29, 1948.  He lived in Seattle and Port Angeles in Washington and in Juneau, Alaska, before living at his home of 30 years in Tenino.

Dave served in the U.S. Army with a final rank of E6 – Warrant Officer Candidate.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Finance/Economics from Central Washington University in 1988.  He was married to Jacqueline “Jo” Anne Rockmore on October 5, 1990.  Jo was the love of his life and they had many happy years together before she passed on April 16, 2017.

Dave had many hobbies, including fishing, camping, snowshoeing, and nature in general.  He also loved music, food and hot rods.  He spent several years building his own custom dream truck.  Just the sound of the engine was enough to put a huge smile on his face.  His love of food was known to all – especially his love of biscuits and gravy.

He worked for many years as a programmer for the State of Washington and, once retired from that, he devoted much of his time to his knife making/blacksmithing career.  He loved knives and had created quite a collection.  He was very proud of the knives and other pieces that he created, and he sold much of his work over the years.

Dave genuinely loved having people around him.  He had little tolerance for people who were “in the way” but had many close friends and enjoyed spending most of his time with the people he cared about.  In his last years, he made many new friends and reconnected with others with which he had lost touch.  These relationships were all very special to him, and he spoke of them often.

Dave was so incredibly proud of his daughter, Tricia Buckenberger.  They were a source of strength, support and love to one another.  The time that they spent together meant the world to both of them.

He will always be known for his infectious smile, his sense of humor, kindness under the worst of circumstances, captivating stories, being a great friend to many, the amazing hugs that he gave, and for being an exceptional hell raiser.
