John Morrish

Obituary of John W. Morrish

John was born May 8, 1948 and died peacefully on November 23, 2018. Surviving John are his mother, Julia Morrish; his sister, Kristi Morrish; and his brother-in-law, Mike Raich.

John grew up in Port Angeles, Washington. His fondest memories were waterskiing and swimming at the family home on Lake Crescent. After Peninsula College, he graduated with a BA from the University of Washington. His passion for flying led him to become a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. During the Viet Nam years, he was stationed in the Philippines, flying throughout Southeast Asia.

Following his brief Air Force career, he moved to New York City where his wife, Gloria, was a fashion model. His “small town” yearnings led him back to Seattle to start a tax consulting business. He remained in the business until an unfortunate accident left him with a traumatic brain injury. Thanks to excellent VA care and a long, restorative process, John recovered.  His positive attitude and upbeat character continued, even when his world was turned upside down.

John was that “happy, friendly guy” you might encounter anywhere. He found good in everyone and in every adverse situation. He liked to “leave ‘em laughing.” His family and friends surround him with LOVE as he now soars with the eagles.

A private family service will honor John. Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project. A form can be found online at this address: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
