Obituary of Kevin Derrick Campbell

On October 22, 2018 in Lacy Washington, Kevin Derrick Campbell was called to heaven to be with the Lord. On March 21, 1961, Kevin was born to his loving mother, Mae Addie Campbell, and father, Henry Wordsworth Campbell, in the city of Seattle, Washington, where Kevin would spend most of his life. His beloved parents faithfully attended New Hope Baptist Church in Seattle with their children for many years, keeping God in the center of their family.

As a Seattle native, Kevin graduated from Garfield High School, where he established many lifelong friendships. From there, Kevin would go on to achieve Journeyman status in the painters’ union. Thereafter, Kevin pursued a career in the painting industry, finding work in both commercial and residential contracting projects. He also spent a portion of his career painting ferries downtown in the Seattle shipyard. He continued to work in the trade until his passing.

In addition to painting, Kevin possessed a real passion for culinary art, and spent many years as a chef in various kitchens and restaurants within Seattle and surrounding cities. Weather it was for work or for pleasure, Kevin’s talent and love for cooking carried over into his personal life as he found great pleasure in cooking up a hot meal and breaking bread with his loved ones.

Kevin’s spirit could light up a room as bright as his smile. He had a way about him that would leave you feeling important, loved, and encouraged. He has touched so many lives. He was a son, brother, father, husband, uncle and friend. Kevin will be missed endlessly. May his soul eternally rest in Jesus.

Kevin was one of seven children and was proceeded in death by his brothers, Earnest and Jimmy; as well as his sister, Frances.

Kevin leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Jane Campbell; his daughters, Kisha Nichelle Burns, and Jazmen Lynn Owens; son, Jamal Derrick Campbell; sisters, Alice James, Juanita Wyatt, and Leslie Gore; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends.
