Obituary of Betty Leone Fillingham Davis

Betty Leone (Fillingham) Davis, 97, was taken by the angels on Tuesday, August 2, 2018, with family by her side in Olympia, Washington. She was born on July 14, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan, to Claude William and Mildred Frieda Fillingham Sr., and was raised with six siblings.

 

Betty and William Eugene “Bill” Davis were married on October 25, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan.

 

Betty retired from Lansing General Hospital. She loved spending time with her family; going camping; cooking; gardening; reading; swimming; and taking pontoon rides around Round Lake, Mecosta Lake and Blue Lake through the channel.  She also enjoyed going for ice cream cones and driving around looking for deer with her grandchildren, and then enjoying her popcorn parties at night with the kids, watching movies.

 

Betty is survived by her children, Curtis (Carolyn) May of Lansing, Michigan, Billy Earl Davis of Mecosta Michigan, Linda Jo Davis of Lansing, Michigan, Dorothy Ann Davis (Greg) Walsh of Olympia, Washington, Jody Faye Stephens of Holt of Michigan; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Peggy) Fillingham II of Temple, Texas, Samuel (Carol) Marlatt of Elk Rapids, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Davis of  Mecosta, Michigan, formally from Lansing, Michigan (GM Tool Room); daughter, Bonnie Leone (Davis) Moore of Brethren Michigan; son, Norman Edward Davis of Hubbardston, Michigan, and his wife, Julie Ann; twin granddaughters, Amy Maria Reid and Sue Ann Reid of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Fern Magdalina (Fillingham) Bauman of Lansing, Michigan, and Clara Jane (Fillingham) McPherson of Kentucky; brother, Claude William Fillingham II of Eaton Rapids, Michigan;  grandparents,  Joseph (Fannie Elizabeth Darby) Prior Fillingham Sr., and Emanuel (Magdalina Frieda Guering) Bopp of Lansing and Lake Lansing, Michigan.

She will be truly missed every day.

 

For the last six months, Betty enjoyed helping maintain the flower gardens as a member of the garden club. She enjoyed deadheading and smelling the flowers, even picking a few at times. She just wanted to pass that peace and happiness to others.
