Obituary of Jean Marie Badavinac
Jean Marie Badavinac, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Centralia, Washington, on September 4, 2018, surrounded by family. She was born December 5, 1931 in Nashwauk, Minnesota, to Thomas and Emma Mudgett. She was the youngest of six children.
Jean spent four years in the U.S. Navy on the East Coast. While on leave in Minnesota, she met her future husband, Rolly Badavinac, and they were married for 64 years. They resided in Centralia for 45 years with their four children.
Jean was an original member of an all-women’s American Legion Post in Hibbing, Minnesota, then became Post Commander of the American Legion Post #17 for two years, and was also elected 10th District Commander in Centralia. Jean worked for school districts in Vancouver and Centralia.
Jean is survived by husband, Rolly; daughters, Connie (Spencer) Davis, and Cheryl (Laurence) Boehm; son, Scott (Geri) Badavinac; grandchildren, Jared (Amanda) Staloch, Adam (Becca) Staloch, Kylene Davis, Ethen Badavinac, and Maggie Badavinac; great grandchildren, Avery Staloch, Olive Staloch, Jade Badavinac, Harper Staloch, and Jack Staloch.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Audrey, Stanley, Albert, Ruth, and Emmett; and daughter, Kim.
Jean’s family would like to extend their gratitude to all the hospice staff who took such great care of her. She loved you all.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #17, 111 W. Main St., Centralia, WA 98531.
