Obituary of Martha Lee Riordan

Martha Lee “Marti” Riordan passed away July 15, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington, after a long-term illness.  She was a month shy of her 80^th birthday.  Marti was born August 15, 1938 to John Wesley and Martha Barthena Baird in San Antonio, Texas.  A 39-year resident of Federal Way, Washington, she also lived in Anchorage, Alaska; Ames, Iowa; San Jose, California; Greenville, South Carolina; and Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Marti graduated from Harlandale High School in San Antonio, was married to James D. Riordan until his passing on September 21, 1982, was a jewelry consultant, and Mother Extraordinaire!  She was sassy, sweet, and filled with strength and courage. She did anything and everything for family and friends.  She was a true inspiration and role model for the ages.

Marti loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Seattle Seahawks, and watching any team play football on TV.  Her tastes in music ranged from Conway Twitty to her all-time favorite, Neil Diamond. She loved puzzles, Scrabble and playing slots.  Marti especially enjoyed meeting with her friends Elaine and Joni for lunch, coffee and shopping. She also loved spending time with her sisters, grandkids, and grand-dogs.

Marti was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Diane R. Riordan; son-in-law, Chris Johnson; and five lovely sisters, Marie, Ruby, Edna, Jeanne and Faye. She is survived by her children, Carol A. Frink of Federal Way, Washington, David M. Frink of Yakima, Washington, Rebecca L. McCabe of Jacksonville, Florida, Jason D. Riordan (Roni) of Blaine, Minnesota, Garth A. Riordan (Wendy Chaloux) of Port Richie, Florida, and Michele Johnson-Riordan of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, John, Amanda, Briana (Stephen), Heather, Ryan, Tanner, Diva and Brendan; seven great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who dearly loved her.  She will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 20, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Emerald Queen Ballroom, 5580 Pacific Highway E, Fife, WA 98424.
