Obituary of Wallace Gordon Miller

Wallace Gordon Miller, 83, passed away June 25, 2018 in Olympia, WA.  He was born July 12, 1934 in Kevin, Montana.

He graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1952, Montana State University in 1957, and received a Master's degree from the University of Washington.  He worked for Boeing for several years before leaving to work for the State of Washington, eventually becoming the Director of the Office of Program Planning and Fiscal Management under Gov. Daniel Evans.  He then went into private consulting work, forming Miller and Associates in 1977.  He retired in 2005 to spend more time feeding the birds.

He loved fishing in fresh water and salt, and teaching kids to fish. Most of all he loved fishing in Alaska. Wally was always interested in politics and worked on many local political campaigns. He was a great reader and especially loved history and World War II. A very hard-working man, he was dedicated to his career, and to his house on Long Lake (where he built a patio, dock, bulkhead, and remodeled the basement).

Wally loved to make jam, at one time having eight varieties to choose from on his shelf. He was famous for his delicious brown bread and, for a time, his delicious cioppino.

He loved to laugh, was loved by many, and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lauri June (Foster) Miller, children Tamara Miller Perkins, Brian (Tracy) Miller, and Laurisa (Ann-Marie) Miller, granddaughter Laura Miller, siblings Beryle and Jim, and many beloved nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
