Obituary of William Sokolik
On the morning of May 26, 2018, Bill passed away at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He was 61 years old.
Bill was born in Olympia, Washington, at the old St. Peter Hospital, on April 5, 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lois Sokolik; and by his sister, Lois “Osie” Sokolik. He is survived by his wife, Julie Sokolik; his brothers, Joe Sokolik, Tim Sokolik, Tom Sokolik; his children and their spouses, Anastacia Green, Eric Green, Joe Sokolik, Naoko Sokolik; and his grandchildren, Yukino Sokolik, Midori Sokolik, Jon Green, and Zach Green.
A lifelong resident of Olympia, graduate of Olympia High School’s class of 1975, and a retired maintainer from Crown Beverage Packaging, his passing leaves a massive gap in his community, and in the lives of his vast number of family and friends. He had an immense capacity for love and caring, and an irreplaceable personality. He was a storyteller, a gardener, a master Dahlia bulb splitter, an avid outdoorsman, a hunter and fisherman. He was a baby whisperer. He was a collector of art, a supporter of the arts in his community, and a student of Native cultures. He was a mechanic, and a maintainer. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews, with an immeasurable depth and selflessness.
