She was stationed in New York, Washington, D.C., Colorado, Kentucky, New Jersey, Hawaii and Germany. She was proud to serve her country! The following are excerpts from her reviews: “Although her specialty is pediatric nursing, LTC Anderson readily accepted her responsibilities as Chief, Maternal-Child Health Care Nursing Section. She is an excellent administrator, and is very efficient in counseling/guiding junior officers.” “In the performance of her duties as Chief, Maternal and Child Health Care Nursing Section, LTC Anderson proved herself to be a most outstanding nurse and officer. She is exceptionally well qualified as an administrator. Her sincerity and dedication to excellence in nursing have gained LTC Anderson the respect and confidence of her entire staff.” Following retirement, Joanne made her home in Washington in the summer and Arizona in the winter. This is when Joanne obtained her BS in marine biology and worked on several internships at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Joanne loved to travel and was an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoyed boating, kayaking, flying kites on the beach, fishing, bowling, golfing, hiking, both water and snow skiing, checking bluebird houses, camping, and gardening. She had many adventures on her RV trips. She loved women’s sports, and became personal friends with the coach and members of Seattle Storm. Joanne was a member of The United Churches of Olympia, RVing Women, a charter life member of the Military Officers Assoc. of America, and others. Preceding her in death were Sam and Reta Campbell; her father, James Anderson; brother, Jimmy Anderson; and cousins, Jane and Bill Creamer.
