Bill Sanford, 82, died of cancer on January 19, 2019 in Olympia, Washington at his home. He was born April 2, 1936 to Walter and Mary (Nyseth) Sanford in Ballard, Washington.
Bill graduated from Ballard High School, served in the U.S. Air Force, and married Trudi Lunde on June 22, 1956 at Ballard Lutheran Church. Professionally, he was a marine and aerospace machinist. He worked at Marco Marine, Hydro Drive, Lockheed Shipyard (for 26 years until it closed), and The Boeing Company, from which he retired in 2000.
Bill could build or fix anything and would always stop and help anyone and everyone. He was kind, funny and strong. He loved exploring and finding new ways to new places. He also loved playing cards.
Bill loved his family more than life, and they returned that love. He will be missed and dearly remembered by his wife, Trudi Sanford; son, Mark Sanford, and wife, Cindy, of Westport, Washington; daughters, Vickie Ragan of Portland, Oregon, and Stacy Ballard Morton, and husband, Brien Morton, of Seaside, Oregon; 16 grandchildren; and three sisters, Melinda Schelhase, Peggy Hart, and Joy Herman.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
